LIVE Coverage of Catalyst

16 09 2009

Well, the cat is out of the bag.

I am thrilled to have the chance to attend The Catalyst Conference this year.

I am even more excited to have the opportunity to bring The Catalyst Conference to you!

I have partnered with the Christian Standard to bring Catalyst live to you. I am going to be live blogging each of the 10 main sessions. You will have the chance to see what I see, hear what I hear, and experience what I experience through this blog. What is really cool about this is…it’s entirely interactive. You can post comments and share ideas with me (and everyone else participating) while I share Catalyst with you.

I am also going to be Tweeting throughout the entire conference, as well as updating this blog with posts highlighting each day. I may even bust out some video or audio segments to take you there!

Read more details here.

I hope you will plan on joining me here October 7-9.

(As of right now, I will arrive in Atlanta on the 7th for the main conference on the 8th and 9th. I am hoping to get into some of the Catalyst Labs, which take place on the 7th and bring those live to you as well. We’ll see!)

Blogging from the National Missionary Convention

20 11 2008

In about 5 hours, I will be leaving with 12 others from the Christian Campus House and heading to Tulsa, OK for the annual National Missionary Convention. Never heard of it? I’m not surprised. It’s pretty huge in the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ circles. Been goin’ on something like 60 years.

No mega-church speakers. No famous authors. Just ordinary folks who have labored, some of them for decades, in remote areas of the world sharing the Gospel of Christ. Last year, I met one guy who had been a missionary for 40+ years and was excited because he was consistently seeing 6 people interested in a “house church.” Amazing.

I hope to blog through the convention a bit, but I can’t promise anything. Not sure what internet connections will be available. However, I definitely will be Twitter-ing throughout the entire weekend. You can follow me on Twitter here.

Pardon My Silence

18 08 2008

The last post I made was before we left for the National Student Conference at the beginning of this month. That was a long time ago. But, I am in campus ministry and, as you might guess, August is our busiest month.

The conference was pretty great. I sent a fair number of Tweets during the week and you can read them here.

Now, it’s full steam ahead into the school year. Most of the students will arrive this weekend. We have a BBQ for our returning students on Saturday. And we have another BBQ on Sunday for all of the students, old and new. We have “Sundaes on Monday” with a massive amount of ice cream. Tuesday is our first TNT (Tuesday Nite Thing) of the year. We will spend this fall semester studying and memorizing the book of James. Wednesday we play sand volleyball on campus. And Thursday is “Games on the Grass.” We will be renting some inflatable games and setting them up in the middle of campus…just for fun.

In the midst of all of this, my oldest daughter starts Kindergarten on Wednesday. Oh yeah, and my online graduate class begins this week too.

And…I am in the process of launching this business.

National Student Conference

2 08 2008

By the time you read this, I will be on my way with 8 others for the National Student Conference in Evansville, IN.

This is a gathering of 500+ campus ministers and students from all over the country. We worship, share ideas, pray, plan, dream, and have fun.

I am looking forward to it! And, my wife is coming along too. Just the two of us. No kids. It’ll be like a vacation.

I hope to share ideas and thoughts and experiences via Twitter. You can follow me here.

Great Twitter Links

29 07 2008

I have fallen in love with Twitter. If you aren’t sure what it’s all about, check out this article from USA Today. I enjoy following several folks and posting my own tweets.

If you are in ministry, here is a great list of church and ministry leaders who are on Twitter. Make sure you read the comments and add some of those folks as well. I’ve even found a few other campus ministers there.

And, if you want to follow me: here I am.

Mexico Mission Trip and Twitter

9 05 2008

Tomorrow, at the early hour of 5am, I roll out of Maryville for a week long mission trip to Mexico. Originally I was supposed to be leading a group of students to Haiti this week, but there had been much civil unrest over there and I decided against taking students in to such a dangerous situation.

And so…Mexico. 5 students and myself. And we will be meeting up with several other students from Campus Christian Fellowship from Iowa State. Eric is a campus minister there.

I hope to keep people updated throughout our trip via Twitter. Sign-up and follow me and you will be on top of all the excitement. You can find me on Twitter here.

See you when we get back!
