  • 8:30 AM mynameisbrandon – Things are kicking off!!

  • 8:31 AM mynameisbrandon – Catalyst gave us mini-flashlights in our welcome bags. Folks are shining them all over the arena. Looks like thousands of fireflies lighting up on a summer night.
  • 8:32 AM mynameisbrandon – A video is showing, but I am having a hard time understanding what is being said.
  • 8:33 AM joshuapotter – I am joining you this morning from good ol Clarinda, Ia. Appreciate the live blogging. I was there last year, and am kicking myself for not making it this year

  • 8:33 AM mynameisbrandon – Two Joshua guys in the house.
  • 8:36 AM mynameisbrandon – A girl is singing “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen and covered by Jeff Buckley. She is doing it acapella. It’s hauntingly beautiful.
  • 8:38 AM joshuapotter – I hope you are covering Chandlers Message later, I heard the guy blew it up last night.
  • 8:38 AM mynameisbrandon – @joshuapotter I plan on covering all the sessions…Chandler’s included. And he did blow it up last night. He brought the heat.
  • 8:38 AM mynameisbrandon – @joshuapotter I might not be able to cover the final session, as I will be needing to catch my flight home.
  • 8:40 AM mynameisbrandon – They are showing a cool video encouraging people to breathe and reflect. It features a girl doing chalk art. Very cool.
  • 8:40 AM joshuapotter – you are heading home today? I thought he was talking today?
  • 8:40 AM mynameisbrandon – @joshuapotter I think he is talking tonight. I am not heading home until tomorrow evening.
  • 8:41 AM mynameisbrandon – There is a string quartet on stage…they are accompanying a girl doing spoken word poetry. I’ve seen this girl on videos before. She is good.

  • 8:46 AM mynameisbrandon – People are cheering loudly for the Word of God that has just been read.
  • 8:47 AM mynameisbrandon – There is a gal singing…and behind her the band plays. The lady playing the cool Irish instrument is prominent. The music sounds like it could come from the soundtrack of the movie “Braveheart.”
  • 8:47 AM Joshua David Christy – Sometimes I wish people would cheer loudly for the Word of God being read in Church.
  • 8:49 AM mynameisbrandon – “Holy, holy, holy…is the Lord God Almighty…who was, and is, and is to come.”
  • 8:50 AM mynameisbrandon – WOW! She just sang, “Jesus, you are such a mystery” and all the lights came on in the house and people jumped up to their feet to clap.
  • 8:51 AM mynameisbrandon – And just as quickly, the lights go back and down and the music softens and there is a quiet reflection in the house. I have goosebumps.
  • 8:54 AM mynameisbrandon – And this is the Fee Band that just came on stage. The bass is driving so hard that I feel it in my body.
  • 8:56 AM mynameisbrandon – “Our God is risen and reigning and we’re elevating glory of our God and King!”
  • 8:59 AM mynameisbrandon – Welcome everyone to live-blogging through the Catalyst Conference…from MyNameIsBrandon.com and the Christian Standard!
  • 9:01 AM mynameisbrandon – Fee is still rocking the house.
  • 9:03 AM mynameisbrandon – They are leading everyone in “It’s All Because of You I’m Alive.”
  • 9:04 AM mynameisbrandon – I’m glad I have my seat. There people standing behind me. They can see what I am typing! Say “hi!” everyone.

  • 9:11 AM Brian Mowers – Brian in NC here…good morning
  • 9:12 AM mynameisbrandon – They are making a big deal about this being the 10th anniversary of Catalyst.
  • 9:14 AM mynameisbrandon – They have a guy on stage named “Mark.” It’s funny because the theme for this thing is “On Your Mark.”
  • 9:15 AM mynameisbrandon – They are calling Mark’s mom on a cell phone.
  • 9:16 AM mynameisbrandon – They got his mom on the phone…and just introduced her to all 12,000 of us.

    Haha.
  • 9:20 AM mynameisbrandon – The guy dressed as Spielberg has a history of being a jokester. They are getting to play a prank on him right now.
  • 9:22 AM mynameisbrandon – They are pressuring Lanny (Spielberg) to get a tattoo on the spot.
  • 9:22 AM mynameisbrandon – Lanny is speechless!
  • 9:23 AM mynameisbrandon – Lanny says, “This is very uncomfortable.”
  • 9:23 AM mynameisbrandon – This is a hilarious prank.
  • 9:24 AM mynameisbrandon – Lanny said, “My mother would think this is evil.”
  • 9:26 AM mynameisbrandon – I think they are taking Lanny backstage to get the tattoo. I am not sure if this is for real or not! Anyway, they are now transitioning back to Fee and more singing.
  • 9:28 AM mynameisbrandon – “There is no one greater…no one higher…no one like our God!” (singing)
  • 9:33 AM mynameisbrandon – Andy Stanley is taking the stage.
  • 9:44 AM mynameisbrandon – Had an internet hiccup.
  • 9:50 AM mynameisbrandon – I’m back! Sorry gang. Wicked internet hiccup.
  • 9:50 AM mynameisbrandon – Stanley is on stage. Here are some highlights:
  • 9:50 AM mynameisbrandon – “What man is a man who does not leave the world a better place.” From the movie “Kingdom of Heaven.”
  • 9:51 AM mynameisbrandon – All leaders make a mark…the question is “what kind of mark will we make?”
  • 9:51 AM mynameisbrandon – We don’t yet know what in our life will make the biggest impact. And that’s frustrating. If you look at the Bible, the greatest leaders didn’t know their impact until much later.
  • 9:52 AM mynameisbrandon – Am I willing to submit my leadership gift to a bigger picture and larger story?
  • 9:52 AM mynameisbrandon – We do not invite God in our story, but we are invited into God’s story.
  • 9:54 AM mynameisbrandon – “God takes full responsibility for the life wholly devoted to Him.” Andy’s father, Charles said.
  • 9:54 AM mynameisbrandon – Joshua 5:13-15 is one of Joshua’s defining leadership moments.
  • 9:55 AM mynameisbrandon – When faced with the commander of the angels of the Lord, Joshua took off his sandals in submission to God’s holiness. As leaders, we must have this same moment and same response.
  • 9:59 AM mynameisbrandon – Leadership is not about the mark *we* leave, but about the mark God leaves whenever we live lives wholly devoted to Him.
  • 9:59 AM mynameisbrandon – Andy is telling stories from his past that have left their marks on him. Most of the stories pertain to his father.
  • 10:02 AM mynameisbrandon – Andy is telling stories from his past that have left their marks on him. Most of the stories pertain to his father.
  • 10:02 AM mynameisbrandon – We cannot be about who is for/against us but about Who we are for.
  • 10:04 AM mynameisbrandon – We have no idea what God wants to accomplish through us. When it happens, we won’t even know it has happened.
  • 10:11 AM mynameisbrandon – Our mark isn’t worth our worth. (WOW!)
  • 10:11 AM mynameisbrandon – Another hiccup…be patient. We will try to get it fixed.
  • 10:11 AM mynameisbrandon – “Living to make my own mark is too small of a thing to give my life to.” –Andy Stanley
  • 10:17 AM mynameisbrandon – We must be give ourselves to the mark that God wants to make through us…not the mark we want to make.
  • 10:18 AM mynameisbrandon – Thanks for your patience, everyone.
  • 10:19 AM mynameisbrandon – Andy has wrapped up. I have tried to get you the highlights.
  • 10:20 AM mynameisbrandon – The next session starts in about 25 minutes…at 10:45am EST. Check the blog and Twitter for the next live-blog link!
